Physical Regions
The map on the left divides Colombia into five natural geographic regions based on their specific physical and climatic characteristics. The five geological regions are the Amazon Rainforest, the Grassland Plains, the Andes Mountains, the Caribbean Coast, and the Pacific Coast.

It can be seen that Columbia is mostly flat land until the Andes Mountains. The Andes Mountains show hills surrounding them. Cultural Regions
The map on the left shows the religions of the world. I have circled Columbia in red and underlined the legend of religion it falls under. According to the map, the main religion of Columbia is Christianity.

An image of "La Ciudad Perdida", also known as "The Lost City". The city, originally called "Teyuna", has the ruins of over 200 structures spread out over almost 75 acres of land. It is able to be reached by walking 2 to 3 days into the jungle and culminates in an ascent of 1,200 mossy stairs on the side of a mountain.

An image of the grassland plains within Colombia, also known as "Los Llanos". These plains are located east of the Andes Mountains. The main river in these grasslands is the Orinoco, which forms between Colombia and Valenzuela.

Human Landscapes
Within every region inside Colombia is joyfulness and diversity of the Colombian people. This is expressed and celebrated during fairs, carnivals and cultural festivals such as the one pictured above. In comparison to Americans wearing red, white, and blue... Colombians wear reds, yellows, blues, and greens to show their love for their country.

This is a local bus or "buseta". These buses can be found all over Colombia and can be used by anyone to get from on place to the next. While these are made to fit 8 to 10 people, Colombians squeeze in almost 20 people. The fare for the bus is about 60 cents American money.

A more recent image of the new buses in Colombia. The Colombian city of Cartagena has a brand new Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system, called "Transcaribe". By using these buses, Cartagena will become the first city in Colombia to use natural gas solutions for urban transportation and this will grestly reduce the emissions that the city’s current fleet is producing.

These are Colombian Empanadas or "Empanadas Colombiano" and they are a popular snack in Colombia and are a common dish served in Colombian restaurants in the USA. Traditionally, these are made with meat, such as shredded pork and beef. However, these can also be made with potatoes instead of meat for vegetarians.

The churches in Colombia are more historical and classical looking than the ones in the USA. The tend to have high ceilings, symmetrical sides, and classical windows. These churches can date back to the 1600's, whereas the churches in the USA are much more modern.

OIL PRODUCTION VS. OIL CONSUMPTION
***The country of Colombia did not show "oil" under the economy on CIA Factbook, the information I used below is based on South America on indexmudi.com***
1. Record: in 2013
Oil Production: 6,525.13
Oil Consumption: 5,889.28
2. Summarize: Write a short paragraph explaining the information you discovered and conclusions you can draw. How does this information help you develop a sense of place for the country -- living conditions, social development, use of land or other resources, etc.?
My country did not show the specifics of oil consumption and production on CIA Factbook. It did give a brief description of Colmbia being a main distributor of oil. However, when I looked on indexmundi.com, it shows the production/consumption of oil for all of South America. The production amount is always slightly larger than the consumption amount, even with a difference of 30 years. This shows that South America, Colombia included, is self suffient for their oil. They could cut off ties with other countries and have enough oil to supply themselves.
3. Contemplate: What questions does the information raise in your mind. Write down two questions you have based on what you have discovered.
Why is South America more sufficient for oil production than North America?
Is there a significant difference in oil production between countries in South America?
